Here is a strange one I hope someone can help with. When I turn on either turn signal when the brake lights are on, both brake lights go out! Brake lights work fine by themseves, signal lights work fine by themselves. But turn on a turn signal, both brake lights go out. The signal light works fine. Anyone run into this before? Because the brake and signal light work off the same filament, I am wondering if this could something in the signal switch in the steering colum

Had the same thing happen but only on one side
The contacts in the indicator switch were gummed up with old dry grease
A liberal spray of WD40 and contact cleaner got them going again.
Seems strange that both sides would go at once though :confused:

Thanks Dave. I will pull the steering wheel today and give the signal switches a good cleaning and see if that does the trick

Well a big thanks to you Dave. Thats EXACTLY where the problem was. I am going to have to pull everything out and clean it up, or put in a new switch. I pulled the steering wheel off and cleaned it up and it works..... ALMOST all of the time. Who wooda thunk someone from down under had the answer to a Chevelle question!!!
