427L88 May 20th, 04, 10:01 PM Man, I happened to pop up on the Lunati site, just to check the selection of solid sbc cams, as opposed to the 282S , which would work nice btw.
Anyway, check out that first solid listing. Kripes, that looks like a l'lil ripper! 401A1. I'm not sure what makes the tight lash (TL) cams better or not.
Btw, with your 11:1, a cam more like the A4 might work better, with that wider LSA and all. Might want to work through some dynamic compression numbers and see where you wnat to end up. Maybe the small block guys can assist...Ran a Crane 114lsa cam with 10.75:1 on 93 octane . no problemo.
svtrich May 20th, 04, 11:59 PM thanks 427L88, theres a guy on the camaro tech page said that Harold suggested a cam for his motor but he doesnt have the specs or a part number.its supposted to be a 30-30 replacement that has some bottom end torque.I hope Harold can give me a cam thats going work well for my application.

Richard graemlins/beers.gif Harold may have a new one but he used to have a 30/30 replacment with much better bottom end that was 292, 255 @.050 & .518 lift on a 112 sep.
Don't know the Lunati number of it though.
svtrich May 21st, 04, 8:31 PM thanks wolfplace, but how can a cam thats biggger in lift give me more torque.we are only going from a 114 to a 112 lobe sep.

Wolfplace May 21st, 04, 10:31 PM The lift has very little to do with the loss of bottom end torque. It's the seat timing & lobe separation that make the difference on the old 30-30
20 degrees less seat timing will do wonders for the low end ;)
svtrich May 22nd, 04, 12:35 AM thanks Mike,I was hopeing that Harold would join in and be able to give some advise on a cam.I really dont care about getting the last bit of HP.this a car that will be driven a couple times a month at best.I want something that is drivable and has a nice lope to it.like I said,I heard a stock 69 Z and I was not at impressed.any ideas Mike?
Richard :D
UDHarold May 22nd, 04, 1:37 PM The 292F, 292 at .020, 255 at .050, 162 at .200, .518" gross valve lift, is available on anything from 108 LSA to 114 LSA for street use.
The 30-30 Duntov is 312 at .020, 254 at .050, 155 at .200, .485" gross valve lift, and 114 LSA.
The 292F's 22° shorter at .020 gives a tremendous boost to intake port velocities, both at low speed and at high. It also gives a lot longer power stroke, putting more of the torque it generated into the crank.
The 292F also has a lot more high-lift area, from .050 on up, as well as .045" more net valve lift.
It has been a DAILY driver for 24 years, with valve lash needing to be adjusted once a year, or less.
The smaller the LSA, the rougher the idle. Many of TC's crew use the 272F, and the 292F idles very much like that, only slightly rougher...
