I am replacing the complete rear end in my 69, due to the gear ratio(I want to keep the original 4:10 case complete).
Both questions I have are about the bushings that are on top of the rear axle. I got both of them out with the help of my red wrench. What are good bushing to put back in poly-graphite? Second, what is the best way to put these bushings back in? I've tried heating the rear and cooling the bushings, a ball joint press to press them in. What a major pain in the jewels. what works best for you?
thanks for your help!

i use a 1/2" drill with a 5/16 drill bit.stick it between the rubber and the outside bushing case. let the bit walk around the rubber and case. eventually it will burie in and get deep into the rubber. it will eventually pull the rubber out of the case.
then use a air hammer with a blunt tip and bent over the case and force it out.

to reinstall, apply a little oil to ear hole and bushing case. line up bushing and strike with a 5 lb hammer. use a 2x4 to seperate the hammer and the bushing. 4-5 blows and it is in.

I pressed mine in using a stud and nut combination.
