: Who makes the best seat upholstery?
1970SS Feb 20th, 08, 11:11 AM I am ready to purchase interior components for my 70 SS and was wondering what brand you recommend I purchase. I know PUI is sold by most of the major Chevelle parts suppliers but is there anyone else making repro seat upholstery? USA-1 was in business years ago and I heard their stuff was good quality but I can't seem to find anything on them any longer.

jonh1373 Feb 20th, 08, 12:15 PM Go look at p. 3 of the interior posts dated 2/11/08, lots of chat abut the subject. Lots of old info in search also.
jeffs68 Feb 20th, 08, 4:08 PM hi mark,
have you checked into,LegendaryAuto.com.. looks like some nice interior pieces.
RyanNilcea05 Feb 20th, 08, 4:39 PM I used a combination of Year One and The Paddock. They're fairly inexpensive, and look good.
Chevyrelic Feb 20th, 08, 8:51 PM I went w/Legendary after doing research here and talking with my body guy. I ordered on 1/31/08...and am still waiting on 'em to be delivered.

The reason it is taking awhile is because they dont make them until you place the order.
that way all of the material comes off the same roll and the chance of color miss match from different batches is next to none.
It seems several people have had quality issues with PUI. Some of which were not discovered until the material was installed. The PUI representative was willing to make good with replacement materials, but that kinda sucks after the stuff is already installed. Many have claimed Legandary products are superior. From what I gather they are more exspensive also. I bought PUI a couple of years ago and have zero problems. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones. You could purchase PUI stuff and save some $$$$ just look it over real good before you install it.
450HPChevelle Feb 21st, 08, 7:22 PM I ordered my covers Jan. 30 and just recieved my covers from Legendary today! (front buckets & rear seat) They look awesome just like the originals!
CHRIS@LEGENDARYAUTO Feb 22nd, 08, 6:35 PM Thank you Brian, I am glad you like them. I better see some pictures of them when they are done.

Wheelhop Feb 22nd, 08, 6:38 PM Go with Legendary, the quality is far superior to PUI
Stan264 Feb 26th, 08, 7:17 PM For what it's worth, I just ordered new covers for my 68 chevelle, from NPD in Ocala Fl. The upholsterer that I took them to said the material was really well made, PUI , my son picked them up yesterday and he said they looked like originals, Now, NPD just does Chevelles from the catalog that I have!. also they show some good pictures in their master catalog. They have supply houses in Mich.-Calif.--N. Carolina, and Florida. Fl. Number is 1-800-521-6104, Their order-takers are very knowledgable, Give them a call!PS: I also bought new door panel and quartertrim panels from them and I think they are the tops!! Good Luck!!! jilllpilll Feb 28th, 08, 12:14 PM I was wondering if anyone had pictures of their interior? The Chevy store I go to insists that PUI is the way to go, but would like to see your pictures.

Jimmy P Feb 28th, 08, 11:48 PM I have held both popular products in my hands. Over the years I've only used PUI on six different Chevelles and Camaros. After reading the reviews on here between the differences between PUI and Legendary, I decided to try Legendary based on the numerous reviews of higher quality. I am restoring my 69 Chevelle to the highest standards as I have decided I am no longer going to sell any of the cars I'll build for myself.
I ordered seat covers and door panels in Parchment for the 69. The day before I recieved them, I got a call from them. They said that they had made a mistake in the production of the vinyl and to possibly expect seeing that when they arrived. Since they produce the material in their facility, they caught the problem before customers could call and complain. Pretty impressive, even though they screwed up.
I got the box the next day and sure enough, the pattern wasn't 100% correct. But let me tell you, they looked absolutely fantastic! They felt heavier than PUI and the material used in the construction on the backside was also heavier than what I've been acustomed to seeing. The padding was thicker making for a more pronounced detail in the seats.
I have never had any issues with PUI. They always fit and looked good, but after seeing the Legendary product up-close and personal, I now have a new preference. It's not only the quality that counts, it's also the service aspect if you have a problem. After this experience, I have strong confidence that Legendary will stand behind their lifetime guarantee and I will have a toally bitchin interior when my car is done.
I hesitated in writing this as I did not want to bash PUI. I cannot and will not do that because they offer a good product that I have always been satisfied with. It is also a very good sign that the reps are active on this board working hard to make their customers happy. PUI is less expensive tha Legendary and that may appeal to some folks. I do think that Legendaty has had the bar raised in terms of quality. Like the saying goes, 'Competition breeds excellence'. Hopefully, we'll all benefit from it.
Here's another thread about the subject: http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208803&highlight=pui
SS Chad Feb 29th, 08, 11:09 AM I recently took advantage of Legendary's January discount and ordered front and rear upholstery for my 69 SS. I received them a few weeks later and they look great! Since I won't be installing them for a while I put them back in the box and stored it.
I received a call from Ron at Legendary yesterday and he informed me they think there is a problem with my set and they would replace it with shipping for free. I have been in sales and customer service for my entire career and this is the kind of experience I value. I would have been very disappointed if I had found this problem later and had trouble getting quality customer service because it had been too long since my purchase.
I've seen PUI interiors and see absolutely nothing wrong with them. I think they will fit the bill for lots of folks and I've seen great customer service from them as well on this site. It would be tough for me to go away from Legedary now, however, as I love the way their product looks and feels and my experience has been very good.
Good luck!

They were installed about 6 years ago and the guy drove the car most of the time in good weather, and then the car sat until last December when the car changed owners. And that's just the passenger side, drivers is too scary.
BobFmTyler Mar 1st, 08, 7:06 PM I'll be picking my complete rebuilt set of 69 seats and panels from Legendary at CB-08. I'll leave them with Chris a couple of days so everyone can look at them. Judge for yourself.
(No pressure there Chris and Jeff :D)

I'm hoping to have them back this week. You can bet I'll be taking pictures
Second_chance_SS Mar 1st, 08, 11:56 PM No covers for Camaros...... guess I know why I never heard about them on Team Camaro. I'll have to contact PUI to see if they will do a custom combo.

Did the guy always jump in his car with a knife sticking out of his back pocket?
