Once again I need to come to the board for help.
My 68 has a moderately built 350, that's the best I can describe it as I purchased it with the engine as it is and the dealer could not tell me much.
I do not know the cam specs but the car has some lope to it at idle. Seems to load up at idle as well even after having the carb professionally adjusted.

The car currently has a Victor Jr. manifold and a holley 750 DP with mechanical secondaries and manual choke that is not hooked up.

I want to take the Victor Jr. manifold off and replace it with an RPM to help with torque and lower RPM power. Additionally I want a carb with an electric choke and I believe that vacume secondaries would be more appropriate for my driving style(no racing just get on it every now an then while driving).

Sorry for my rambling but here is my question.
I think that the car is a little over carbed, do you think I would be better off going with a 650 holley? If so should I stay with a double pumper or go with a single line?

Thanks again for the help. This board has been a great help for this chevelle novice.

Go with a 600 Holley

Ape,
You did not list your entire combination, but unless it is something real unusual, I would personally go with a Holley 0-3310 750 vac secondary carb. It is probably one of the best all around carbs you will find. It will not be too big for your engine because most of the time it will be only operating on the primaries, but if you feel the need for speed it will be enough for up to at least 7000 rpms. I also think that most of the "new" carbs are not needed for most cars. Meaning the Demon's etc. Stick with tried and true.
Just my opinion,

Thanks for the input. I'm curious why the vast difference between the suggestions of the 600 and the 750?
