I can't make up my mind on American Racing Torque Thrust D'S or 1967 style traditional rally wheels for my 1972 SS. I know I'm not going with the stock wheels. Does anyone have pictures with either of these wheels on 70-72.

What's wrong with the stock 72 SS wheels ? My stock wheels look great on my 1972 402BBC SS. Maybe that will change your mind, Good luck with your choice!

I'm not crazy about the look of the stock wheels together same size. But I haven't ruled them out entirely. I'm considering doing a 15X7 in front an a 15X8 in the rear for a bigger tire. You can't get this same look with the same wheel front an back.

I am having the same issues as yourself.I know I love the look of the torque thrust wheels but i am battleing what will give it a nice wide tire on the rear without cutting. My vote is the torque thrust .What size tire were you going with ?

yes you can... run a 235 or 225 front tire and a 275 rear tire. I have the stock 71 SS wheels and i have 235's front and 275's rear and it looks good.

I was originally going to run a 255 tire in front and a 285 tire in the rear, but BF Goddrich no longer makes the 285 tire. These would be on 15X7 and 15X8 rally wheels. But now I thinking the TT's will look better with a Black with white SS stripe paint job (currently getting done). I have to maybe go with a smaller tire combo. I'm looking for a special stance, high and raked

Keep in mind that the TTD's are 3.75" backspacing, and anything bigger than the 15x7 look kind of funny. ( IMHO )

Dan, I'm a little slow on this wheel thing. When you say they look a little funny, what do you mean? I'm going with a 15X8 in the back probably. Charlie, thanks for your picture. That's the style I originally was going with.

The TTD comes in 15x7 and then jump to 15x8.5, but both have the same backspacing of 3.75". The 15x7 tucks up nicely into the wheelwell, but I have seen a couple of cars where the 15x8.5 is very close to the wheel lip, and also have seen a couple where the suspension is raised slightly to clear the tires, which just doesn't look right, IMHO.
