I wanted to get some feedback on this 1970 Chevelle Malibu 454. I am not certain that I would sell it I just want to get an idea of its value. I have owned this car since 1984. It was built at the Van Nuys California Plant. I have the build sheet. It was originally a 350. It was in California until 1981. It had front end damage when I bought it and needed a hood & core support. It did have several dents but almost no rust, the floors , trunk pan are all excellent. It has always been garaged or in an enclosed trailer. It was street driven for a few years and then I began bracket racing with it and switched to a 454. The best it ran was 11.17 et in the 1/4 mile. I won best appearing car in my division at the 1990 div 3 bracket finals.Like I said before I dont know if I would actually sell it or not but I dont think I would let it go for less than $20,000.00. Here is a list of what its got.

454 solid lift cam 669in lift 750 holley crane roller rockers 4130 pushrods forged flat top pistons
TH350 trans with 8inch coan converter
12 bolt rear end 35spline summers bros spool & axles 4.56 gear
Comp engineering 32inch ladder bars
6 point roll bar
centerline 15x3.5 front wheels
cragar 15x10 rear (look the same as front)
goodyear 29x11 slicks
stock hood without inner bracing w/aero hood scoopthis car is still street legal and I have the orginal gas tank, wiper assembly, heater box, back seat.I also have a stock flat hood too. It can easily be returned to streetable condition which is what I might do if I decided to sell it, unless someone wanted it the way it sits. The 1st pic is with a stock hood, the 2nd pic is how it looks now. What's it worth?

Looks like a cool car. IMO though you would be hard pressed to get $20k for it. Hopped up streetable drag Chevelles from what I see are not commanding that kind of money. That being said, I'd insure for $25k and keep it :)

You should show pics of the entire interior and engine bay and trunk. That would help to determine a value.

Troy,
Get yourself a better digital camera. (~$100-150) or so.
Take at least 30-50 pics including interior, exterior, engine bay, trunk, undercarrage, etc...
Post them to a service like photobucket.
Then just post the link.

Just an idea. By the way, from what I saw, nice looking car. Keep it. market is tough.

Good luck.

I don't know about the Ohio area, but around here a malibu that has been modified for racing isn't worth 20k. Most people that are in the price range over 20k are looking for an SS chevelle.

Since you've already stated you won't sell it for less than 20k, I think you've already established a price that you want.

Trying to get someone to pay that is your new task.

Most people that modify cars to their own taste for racing or whatever, know that they will never get their money back. It is a fact of life. Once it is modified to suit your taste, it is not what the masses are looking for. It is what you were looking for and now you want to possibly sell it.
