I'm building the following motor to go into my 68. Chassis is stock for now, but will tune as needed when motor is in (ie. drag shocks, adjustable rear upper control arms, etc.).

Chassis specs:
-3700lb without driver
-3.73 gears
-th350 with 10" streetfighter
-MT 28x10 slicks
Future plans call for lightening car to 3500-3600lb.

Motor specs:

-new 350 block, standard bore, 1-piece rear main
-new 350 crank
-milodon 7 quart pan with windage tray (screen type)
-scat 5.7 rods (ibeam with cap screws)
-kb119 pistons with .100" dome. (Deck is stock and measures . 030". With 64 cc chambers, compression should be around 10.25:1)
-rotating assembly balanced
-bowtie phase 5 aluminum heads with 2.1 intake and 1.65 exhaust (minor porting to short side radius and clean-up of guide bosses)
-comp xe hydraulic roller (248/254 @ .050, .562/.580, 110ls). 1.6 rockers yielding lift of .599/.618.
-vic jr
-holley 750 mech. secondary
-msd pro billet, msd 6al

QUESTION:
Any thoughts on power/e.t. potential of this combination?

I understand that my bowtie heads have great potential if extensively ported but aren't "all that out of the box". This same car runs 13.70's at 101 with these heads on a rebuilt shortblock from O'Reilly Auto Parts (scary, no?) with rebuilder, dished, cast pistons and a .030" deck and a comp xe268 cam. On a 150 shot of nitrous it runs 12.40's at 108 and pulls 1.78 60'. In my opinion, that's not too shabby considering compression is around 8.5:1. I will probably do some port work to these heads and have the flow tested to see what I have.

I am not real familiar with your heads. IMHO with that cam in a 350 it might want a little more gear. Your car is heavier than I would have expected. My 70 is all metal with a full interior and weighs 3625 with 200lb me in it. You would pick up with less weight. I would think 3500lbs with a 150 lb driver wouldn't be hard to do.

your combo sounds close to mine. I run a heathly cam also, and like yourself have a 1 piece rear main seal. Before you order the cam, why don't you do the flow testing and see what lift your heads flow best at? I would have to agree about maybe a little more gear. Although I went pretty quick with 3.73's. I plan on switching to a 4.30 gear to obtain max performance. Email me if you want to compare notes on engines.
