: Mali2ude paint pics
camcojb Feb 16th, 08, 10:27 PM I wasn't going to post any pics yet, as the paint has not been color-sanded and buffed, which makes a huge difference. The painter and I decided to do the color sand and buffing in a couple months, after the paint has settled completely. I changed my mind and will post a few pics to give an idea.
The original color I bought was the darker rendering color, Infiniti diamond graphite. But we did a spray out and the color looked off, so I took it back and had then tint it. Then did another spray out and it now looked very metallic(y). So I went with another color I really liked, darker, but very pretty. BMW sparkling graphite is the choice, has a very fine metallic and mica (pearl). Beautiful in the sun, but kinda dark in the shade. I'm still very happy with it and Jim Ramirez (my painter) did an awesome job getting the car straight and color shot. Here's a few pics, will have many more as the car goes back together for Power Tour.

Bowtie70ss Feb 16th, 08, 10:33 PM I am jealous...I so cannot wait for the weather to break so I can get some paint on my Elcamino. It looks great, can't wait to see it once it's color sanded and buffed.

I don't name my cars, but................... This one was originally Malitude, built and named by Mark Stielow. Since this is a complete re-do, different engine, paint, wheels, etc. it's like version 2.
So a good friend of mine said it should be called Malitude Ver. 2.0, or Mali2ude.

Chris R Feb 18th, 08, 9:42 PM Very nice.
pist0lpete Feb 18th, 08, 11:06 PM I like the color. One sort of subdued in the shade but really comes to life in the sun. If you ever get bored with it just pull it out in the sun and it will remind you it was a good choice. Good choice on waiting to wet sand. That should let the paint fully cure and that way when you do wet sand some slight orange peel won't show up a month later.
Xplantdad Feb 19th, 08, 11:23 PM Jody, you should get a license plate with Mali 2d on it... :)
I remember seeing this car run at the Supercar Reunion....too cool!

thanks for the offer. I think the "i" needs to be tape or similar, cause there's probably a decent chance in California that I'll get caught with the extra letter............ ;)
