I am having problems installing the 3-piece 3/8" fuel line set on my '69 SS Chevelle that I purchased from Year One. They do not seem to fit up correctly. The engine is a 396 with the cast iron Q-Jet intake and a Quadrajet carburetor. The line coming from the carb is touching the thermostat housing. I have also purchased the correct in-line fuel filter with 1/4" vent to go with the new lines. When I connect all of the components, the filter appears to be at an odd angle and almost touching the long water pump. Also, the fuel filter mounting bracket does not seem to fit without some modifications and bending at the attachment point. Should the fuel filter be parallel to the front of the block? I would think that this bracket would bolt right up and look correct, but it does not. A previous post provided me with the bracket mounting point. Am I missing something or is there a trick to getting these pieces installed? I have seen pictures of other engines with this setup and they appear correct. I need some assistance from those who are familiar with this. Thanks.
