I've read about cars in storage.... which is not my problem.:)
My 02 Silverado,( company vehicle) and the K Blazer I picked up this winter are the only two vehicles that are outside, and the damn mice are in them every night. The firewall insulation on the silverado takes a hit every night and the acorns are gathering in the Blazer.
Any recomendations on how to battle these problems in vehicles that are constantly in use??
Ways to stick the remedies in the cars that'll stay in place during movement.
Thanks guys
I will say it's nice to hear those little pests once in a while make their way into my AC condensors for the house and then the fan kicks on:D

I've had customers use Bounce dryer sheets as a deterrent. Two or three sheets in the engine compartment, and a few more stuffed under the seats.

Mice in daily drivers? Huh, that is a bit odd. I could understand if the vehicles just sat and weren't used.

I use dryer sheets in travel trailers that I store in my buildings. That, along with about a dozen farm cats!

I myself have a rat in my daily driver (sorry, I couldn't resist :D )

I have squirrels in my daily drivers. My dogs chase them into the cars if they are too far from a tree when they get spotted. Fortunatly there are enough acorns and walnuts that they have plenty of food without eating my vehicles.

Yeah... I think they just use it as their nightclub, :D :( all kinds of nut shells and torn insulation. I believe they just get up in there @ night and party away in the nice warm engine compartment , wreck the place ...then head home for the night.:D:mad::(
Once I even pulled into one of my jobsites some 40 miles away, parked the truck in the middle of a paved lot....and bam, a little rodent appeared scurrying around the front wheels, bet he didn't like that ride... not to mention he quickly went from a country to a city mouse.

So same methods as a stored car... but try to secure the detterent from moving or falling out?

I've got them in my 94 1500, leaving there droppings all over my manifold. Funny so far none in the car, parked on stands in a covered car port. So dryer sheets work hey?.. I'll have to try that in the Beaumont

Thanks for the tip:thumbsup:

Hey Seb !

I live in a wooded area and have the same problem with mice getting into the cars / trucks that mostly sit around . I am not sure if anyone mentioned this yet , but I was told by several locals to place a few moth balls inside the trunk , under the seats , and under the hood . I did just that and - Problem solved ! Mice have a very keen sence of smell , so it doesn't take many to chase them out , or keep them from getting in . Dont put in to many or you wont want to get in them either !
Good luck !

Don't use moth balls the smell they leave behind takes a long time to get rid of. I use the little cardbord bait boxes you get at the hardware store. a few bites of that and they experiance their very last tummy ache.

Glue traps, or a five gallon pail with a ramp up to the top. Get a clothes hanger, straighten it out, then slip it through a small plastic container with peanut butter globs 180 degrees apart. Then bend the clothes hanger so it will bend along the sides of the pail, but allow the container to spin when the mouse jumps on to get the peanut butter. Put enough antifreeze in the bottom and watch it fill up.

Thanks guys.... but I'm looking for something to stick in some areas of the trucks and leave alone. This way I'm not moving stuff around every morning when I leave and again when I park at night.
Sounds like I'll be stuffing some dryer sheets in strategic areas.... mothballs :noway:... you guys ever come upon a car @ a show and can smell them 10' from the car

The bucket trick works. Put it in an area with a lot of mice, and they'll be drinking green. They can't resist seeing what's at the top of the bucket.

Couple buckets going out tonight:yes:... it's suppose to warm up , so the water won't freeze.
Otherwise they'll put their damn ice skates on and I'll have provided another mouse resort:D:(

When you bend the coat hanger, bend it along the inside of the bucket, then again along the outside, so it holds the container from tipping to the side.
