putting manual flywheel in ,how do i know , or how to check what shim gos behind flywheel

The ONLY thing that would EVER be installed behind a flywheel would be one of the balance plates that is sometimes used on SB400s or 454s with a regular flywheel. My engine plate fit right behind my flywheel with no issues. Never seen a shim behind a flywheel or flexplate. Bowtie70ss Feb 15th, 08, 5:56 PM The amount of shim you need is dependent on how much material has been cut off of the flywheel when it was resurfaced. The shim is to make up for that material so that you linkage has enough adjustment(especially important with hydraulic setups). Run away from someone who tells you to use one? I don't understand that why? You do not need one with a flexplate. Dave | ||
