For those of you that are running electric fuel pumps where do you have them mounted? Any pictures of the location and how it's mounted would also be greatly appreciated.

I currently have my Holley blue pump mounted across the frame cross member below the rear bumper/body panel. The car has the stock fuel tank with a sump welded in. I guess I am of the opinion that the pump is up a little too high, but I am also concerned about safety as this is street driven vehicle. The car is a '72 Chevelle.

i made a bracket out of L shaped bar stock and hung it from the gas tank strap bolts just behind the rearend. used nuts to put L stock in middle of the threaded bolts. used old shock rubber to isolate the bar stock from the bolts and then bolted (with rubber isolaters) the pump and filter to the bar stock. have flowmaster 2 and 1/2 tailpipes and 12 bolt and everything clears nicely

Hey Rapid I guess that means that you are not running tail pipes?

I fabricated a crossmember out of angle that bolts between the frame rails. I then welded a tab (flat stock) to the bottom of the angle (butt welded). Drilled holes in the tab to match the pump. Works like a champ. It's tucked up nice and tight, but you can still see the pump from the rear, you can't see the bracket though. I don't have anywhere to host the pictures or I would post some.

The problem with a stock tank/sump setup is.. The pump will only draw fuel out of the tank "level" to where its mounted.

Sounds like my setup is similar to some of those mentioned above, but here are a couple links to pics of my install: pic1 (http://home.comcast.net/~gs470/LeManz216_50.jpg), pic2 (http://home.comcast.net/~gs470/LeManz219_50.jpg), pic3 (http://home.comcast.net/~gs470/LeManz220_50.jpg)

This is on a '72 LeMans. I'm going to add a sump this spring and finish installing braided lines. I know it's going to be a little snug getting the line from the sump, past the tailpipe to the filter, but it looks like it will fit.

GS470,
Do you by chance have a better picture of the mounting bracket itself. I lkie the position that you used I ended up hanging mine of the rear most frame rail sine I didn't think I had clearance to do something similar to yours. I would like to see more or get some details on the brackets. Thanks

My fuel system (pump/filter) is setup nearly identically to yours, except that I've corrected the angle of the mounting bracket to make sure the filter/pump are perpindicular to the ground.

Hey clean7t:

I took a few more pics tonight and tried to pic out the best ones to see the bracket. It's a fairly tight fit, so you can't see it real well, but hopefully this helps.

The brackets are home made and there are rubber insulators between the bracket and the trunk pan and the bracket and the pump to limit the noise. There are a couple bolts welded to the bracket that come through the front of the trunk pan. Good luck with yours!

I know these components are supposed to be mounted vertically, but I wanted to make sure there was no contact between them and the axle housing during full travel, so I erred on the safe side by angling things slightly. My guess is that having things a few degrees off won't impact operation.
