Well I finally reached my goal of getting a 12 second time slip all Motor, No Juice, Through the mufflers on drag radials. allthough I was really temptedto hit the bottle!! My 1st was 12.96 at 106.81 with a 2.016 60' and is was spinning bad I could actually hear the squeel. The next run (best to date ) was a 12.871 at 107.59 with a 1.915 60'. I think It was still spinning but just a little. The best 60' time of the night was a 1.908 and that was with a green accel cam #2 and air filter I believe that the air filter was the bottle neck!!!!!!! I cant believe how the motor woke up after I went to the #1 hole green accel cam and removed the air filter. I think there is more here but since this isnt my primary race car and my goal was to get into the 12s on a budget of under 5 grand. after totaling all my reciepts and that includes one crank thyat I ruined I came in at $4,400.00 TOTAL How is that for CHEAP STREET!!!

$4400 is still certainly cheap in my book graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Very cool! I remember reading a few years back, here at TC, how BBCs were so much more expensive. Sure glad you and Chris ( among others) have proven that you can build a strong bbc that runs fast and drives smooth as granny's Eldorado!

GREAT STUFF! and yeah, as Mike says, it would be very helpful for all to have access to your combination if you don't mind sharing.

Milan, IMHO that's kinda of a big signature, how about something like

71 "Cheap Street" BBC Chevelle, 12.87@107 for $4400 TOTAL!

Ill work on shortening the sig. thanks! I tried to keep the build close to the LS6 specs in the "how to" books. I did a lot of reading and went though a lot of midnight oil and knuckle busting, and night on my back on a cold garage floor. I am Happy with the outcome. Thank You for your kind words!

Good job. graemlins/beers.gif I knew with a little fine tuning you would be in the 12's. Even better is you $4400 cost. I would love to build another car someday (a 68-72 Nova)and keep the cost down like you did.

I hear you. For my 427 and the purchase price of the car i am right about 4500 for the whole ball of wax. No, make that 5100, i swapped out for a 12 bolt. Whole car.

Like I've been yammering about all along, my 496 is like $3,800 to $4,000 with new cast-iron Merlin ovals on it..

I've got the tickets for everything!!!

And I know now I can build it cheaper.. May not be quite as powerful, but what the heck, I'm won't be making money with it either...

You aint Kidding about Momma! The Combat Rat lapped that figure 2 times and then some and that was still on the cheap.( I just keep asking myself "What would McGuyver do???")
