Actually, Keith's car above has been my inspiration. By the end of next month it will be resprayed fathom blue with ss stripes, all new interior w/blue 2004 GTO seats and C5 wheels/brakes.

That has to be the winner of "Best Sleeper Award". People would expect that to have a rod-kockin' 307 throwing blue smoke out the tailpipes. Looks like the ultimate beater :D, until you lift the hood. Good luck with the project. Looks cool!

Awesome!!!! I would love to make a car like that. But I will have trouble finding anyone to ride in it with me.

That would have to stay just exactly the way it is and clean up under the hood so its spotless. Big wow factor there.

Thanks guys. The car was my wife's grandpa's - who was the original owner. His son, my father-in-law, started disassembling it in his garage and there it sat for 8 years. I dug the thing out of his garage and got it running with the original 307 in it and let a couple of guys that were living with us during a construction project drive it around for a year until they went back to Australia. Thing sat for another 3 years under a shed until I got tired of looking at it, wife wouldn't let me sell it, so, in goes the LS1 with LS2 upper components and a auto tranny out of a 2002 camaro.
I cronicly get mistaken for a beater Meximobile (live in an Agricultural area) until the thing starts up. No traction (open diff.) until about 45mph, then things get embarrasing for unspecting C5 and C6 Corvette drivers. 400+hp and 3400lbs. Oh, it only has 107k miles on it!
Thanks for the "compliments" but, even though its fun to drive in its current state, my purpose has been to make it my daily driver that handles well, accelerates, and looks good!
