Im not sure how I will route my main power cable yet. I have full length headers on this 454 as some of you know already. I have my battery in the trunk so instead of the power cable routing from the front it has to go in differently, it hits the headers in most positions Ive tried. Anyone have a setup similar to this or a solution?
I bolted a ford solenoid to my firewall under the heater box. Then dropped the hot lead from the solenoid between the bell housing and header , under the starter and up to the stock solenoid. I used a bracket that is insulated with rubber to hold the cable tight to the bell housing. Also heat sleeved the wire.

I use a ford solinoid at the rear by the battery...then I use a heavy stand off insulator on the frame by the starter. Run 2/0 from ford solinoid to insulator..then a 12" piece from insulator to starter. This allows for easy removal of starter. and easy routing around header tubes

I don't have any problems with my trunk mount and Hooker full length headers. I run the cable from the frame across to the bellhousing (which I wire tie to) then to the starter.

If I can add some length to my cable it would be fine, Its cut to come in from the backside, I need it a little longer and run it on the frame like you say were saying Bob. Then come into the solenoid from the front, Id like to add a ford solenoid to the trunk but id just like to stay simple without buying more stuff this weekend, I can always change it. I need to splice or connect the cable though for an extra few feet... Hmm. I may be able to route it from the back but Id have to bend the connector on the end, make it angled and then the cable would come in from the back and kind of lay across the top of the starter.
