i need to know how to destinguish between a factory ss hood on a 67 chevelle and a aftermarket hood.

The only thing I can think of is metal thickness. Oh and a factory hood might actually fit:D!

the way to tell is the hood where the hinges mount to the hood, the metal is different. Do a search for 67 ss hood in this forum and restoration center it is in there somewhere with pics

Repo 67 hoods tend to arch 1/2" to high along the fender line. They also won't have a speck of rust underneath towards the front. Be careful when buying because there are several people trying to unload the bad fitting hoods........including me! A stock hood will also cost you more.............if it's cheap it's probably a repo.
