Jim,
The picture you show is for a replacement shield. The original is shaped slightly different and is made out of stainless steel. These replacements are typically galvanized.

That picture is from a unmolested 70 LS5 car that I bought(from the original owner) and sold, regrettably .

I have a couple I bought from GM years ago part #361443-on the gm sticker-looks like the one in the original car pictures-not sure if they are stainless or galvanized-have to check-keep on cruising-Dave.

Are these supposed to be on all 70 Chevelles made during the model year or was it an add on in the middle of the year or possiblly discontinued during the model year?

Just so that you know I bought a repop one to compare a NOS one that I had and their is ZERO difference between the 2 of them they are exactly the same. They are made out of stainless steel. I know one of the other resto parts places sell's them for around $20.00
