: Exhaust choices?

Hi everyone, I have been searching around the old topics to find what I need but I couldn't find so I thought I'd ask. I purchased a 1996 Chevy Silverado Ext. Cab Z71 with a Vortec 305 for my daily driver, and I was wondering which system should I get for better performance and alittle better sound. I was thinking of custom building one: it would just be a 3" single pipe with a dynomax bullet and a turndown at the end. Second choice get a cat-back system from summit with a 3" single pipe going into two 2 1/4" pipes and get tips. Third choice get a cat-back system from summit with a 3" single pipe going into two 3" pipes and get tips. Any other ideas that would get me the performance along with a powerful sound? Thanks.

Do you currently have a hitch on it? I also have a 96 Z71 ext. cab. I had a local Fair muffler shop put my dual exhaust on. It has lasted about 4 years now and is starting to fall apart. If you look at the fine print of the systems advertised in Summit or Jeg's some of them will not work with certain types of hitches. I also considered purchasing a system from Summit, but they won't work with my hitch. I paid $320 for the muffler shop to bend up some duals with chrome tips and high flow crossover muffler. You have to have some type of crossover or it will keep setting the o2 code in the computer. I did gain a little low end performance, but the muffler was very quiet to me. No muffler would sound good with a little noise. Good luck.
