I know that my 461 heads was cut, but I dont know what the current cc. I have found this kit and instruction on cc'ing heads and would like to know can I also use this kit to cc my 4 valve relief pistons, since I have the heads off. While at the machine shop today they wanted $40 per head but I can buy these parts at Wal-mart for less than 1/4 of that price. How accurate are the kits?

I don't know if this helps, but a simple piece of plexiglass, a 60cc(ml) syringe, a needle and some silicone is what I use to cc my heads. I work in a Pharmacy and have access to large syringes which have to be super accurate. I just used the smallest drill bit I had to drill a hole in the plexiglass, sealed the plexiglass to the chamber and started adding 50/50 h2o and antifreeze. Just find someone who works in a hospital or pharmacy to hook you up with a used syringe(not used on people but used to mix drugs!!)

$40  . I paid $26 and figured the kit wasnt worth it. Hey, it isnt rocket science, its as accurate as you make it really, as long as your pipette is accurately marked, its a snap.

Fwiw. two shops cc'd my heads and they weren't the same #, although they both showed one head bigger than the other.

I did them like Duke did. I put a little piece of plexiglass over the top of the head, and put a very light coating of grease around the edge of the combustion chamber to seal the plastic. I had already drilled a small hole in the plexiglass (high speed, low pressure, if using standard drill bits, the stuff will melt). I then used a 60cc syringe i picked up at a medical supply store here in town for like 3 dollars. The 215 heads i have are supposed to be around 101, with a little valve unshrouding and a slight deck just to clean them up i came out with 103/104, i checked 2 cylinders on each head.
