I am looking to replace my old ignition system which is an old Mallory points distributor and coil. The car is a 70 454 Chevelle SS with a cowl induction hood. It has an unknown cam (nice lumpy idle and pulls well to 6k), 1 3/4" Dynomax headers, American Thunder 2 1/5" exhaust, roller rockers, 3310 Holley and Wieland dual plane intake. The car is set up without a vacume advance on the distributor. I have had other cars that I used MSD igntions on and particularly the Digital 6 plus on that I was very happy with. I don't want a new set up that won't fit under the stock looking cowl induction air cleaner etc and may ad a little shot of nitrous in the future (100-150)so the automatic retard of the Digital 6 plus is nice. Are there new distributors now that make adjusting the timeing curve super easy without having to adjust weights etc? I have not looked at distributors and ignitions for a non fuel injected non computer controlled car before. What are the opinions on the best set up? Thanks, Skip

I like my MSD distributors over my Accell as far as curve adjustment goes. MSD uses a bushing to limit advance kind of like the AC Delco point distributors and the Accel has to be taken apart. HEI's may be the easiest to work on but its hard to find the right advance cam, weight and spring and the aftermarket kits suck and it may not fit due to cap size. I had a mallory duel point when I was 17 and knew nothing about recurving, how is it done on the Mallory?
