I have decided that my 900-3000 curve might not be the best option for me. My car idles at 1000 so i'm starting my mechanical(900) during idle. I have thought about going to a 2000-3000 curve range or something like that. Is there any disadvantage/advantage to this curve besides getting my idle away from the beginning of the curve. Right now if I set timing the mark bounces has the weights go out and it. I have strong springs on there as it is.

Man, I know where you're coming from!

If you can afford it, have your distributor set up by someone with a machine. If not, trial and error is the only way to do it.

Mine has been trial and error, and so far has worked fine. Heavier springs and lighter weights would be the way to keep it from coming on too early.

Are you running an HEI? With all of the hei's out there, you would figure that better parts would be on the market. I run MSD stuff on my race car and so far, if the book says I'll get x amount with a given spring and bushing, thats what I get. I will check the total timing and let it ride.
