In the latest issue of high performance chevy they did an article on a 64 ss with a 502ci and 502hp.It had a split converter in it and it was cool!At the flick of a switch you could go from a 1600rpm converter to a 2500rpm converter. My question is where can I get one and how much are they?

They will only work with a 400 trans and I believe it has a special input shaft as well. Any good tranny shop should know what you are talking about. They were used in the 60's in full size cars.

My buddy has one of those converter's in his 73 Buick GS 455, I think it's called a "switch pitch" converter.
Sound's pretty cool, his car isn't on the road yet, so I can't say how well it work's.
BTW it is a Turbo 400 tranny too.
