I have some rust on my BBC crank.

The rust is on the snout, where the balancer sits and there is some on rear of the crank.

There are no rust pits, what grade of sandpaper or emery cloth should I use?

Scotchbrite takes off the rust without removing the base material, a wire brush chucked in a drill works as well.

or 320 or 400 grit wet with solvent or WD-40. On the journals, 600, and have it looked at.
