I am working on a 70 chevelle and going from disk-drum to disk-disk brakes. In the kit a proportion valve was included and a mounting kit up near the master cylinder. The problem is the connections down on the frame with three different size fittings. Is the origional block down on the frame a distribution block or a combination of proportion and distribution block. Can I use the origional block down on the frame for distribution with the new proportion valve up at the master cylinder?

Block on the frame in 70 was a distribution valve, with a delay valve bolted to the mc/booster. Combination valves began in 1971 IIRC.

On a 70 the block down by the frame would be a proportioning valve with the metering valve by the master cylinder. There is also a valve in the rear on the frame to hold pressure in the line for the rear brakes. I believe that in 71 and 72 they were a combo set up because the valve was not used by the master cylinder. Here's a link that explain it better then I can.

Thanks guys the info provided is what I needed. I noticed that the date on the box the kit came in was 12/18/02 so it is time to wrap this thing up. I really appreciate the posts about the time and money it takes to do these projects. Hope to be done for power tour in Ames this june.
