Just drove my Chevelle for the first time since installing the new engine and trans. I just went down the block and back, but I did notice that it didn't shift gears out of first. I manually shifted it forward, but it remained in 1st gear only. Reverse is fine also. :confused:

When I got back, I realized I didn''t have the vaccuum modulator hooked up to a vaccuum source. Would this be why it didn't shift out of low ?

It does have a BM Street and Strip Transkit in it.

Yeah that will do it. If the vacuum modulator isn't hooked up the car won't shift into 2nd or 3rd.

I would go drive the car again with the modulator hooked up to see if it shifts. I know I would drive it again or I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. LoL.
