What Muncie M22 tail housing was in the 70 Chevelle? I see most sold with the 3857584 tail housing, but hear the 3978764 was more durable what came with the car from the factory I want my to be correct. but if I did use the larger 32 spline out put shaft wil I have to change anything? I need help :confused: Also im thinking of of converting my 3885010 to a M22 Opinions?

Nevermind I bought the 5010 case off ebay and will turn it into a M22 close with 3.31 gear 12 bolt im my 70 :hurray:

If you change to the large output shaft you will obviously have to change the driveshaft yoke. You also may end up having to shorten the driveshaft by an inch or so.

Many think the smaller 10 spline input 27 spline output is very durable. Plus, it bolts up with no change of yoke, clutch plate, and u joint.
I've very happy with my 69 10/27 plus unless you like the constant whine of an M-22 I'd stay put.

No whine in 4th gear:):):)
