I have always retorqued my intake manifold after several heat cycles.my question..How many of you guys would lift off an 8/71 blower in order to access the blower manifold to head bolts? It seems like the right thing to do.Wolfplace/cnc/etc...do you recommend this procedure to your customers?

If you put rtv around the water jackets and a bit around the ports don't worry about it.

Any more opinions? And would you reuse the new blower to manifold gasket if you did lift the blower?

i never retorqued them, but if you do, be careful bolting down the blower, make sure it turns ok after doing so-sometimes after it heats/cools, kind of takes a set, and you disturb that, but prob not a problem though-i just get the intake bolts pretty tight to start with-its kind of a feel you develop, shy of stripping the bolt-lol

I have had mine off several time and have still used the original gasket. I did the retorque thing at 200 mile & at 1000 miles and they still were tight. I did install them with some RTV in the threads as did the above post. Lifting the blower, carbs & hat off in one piece can be a bit of a challenge if you do it all the time. Are you leaking/loosing boost pressure?

I have done a lot of blower work on marine and if you use a good gasket to begin with and torque the bolts when you installed them, I have never, even after hundreds of hours of operation had an issue with the bolts needing to be retorqued.
If the blower to manifold gasket looks good, I would reuse it without hesitation.
BTW, don't overtorque the blower to manifold bolts!!!!!!!!!
