What would the correct alt. # be for my 68 SS (396 w/o air). I have found one that has 1100928 / 8J5. The 8J5 would be Sept. 5, 68? Is this the correct part #? I didn't find this in Chevelle Tech.

Never mind!! I answered my own question. This would be for a 69. Sorry guys!!!

You need a 1100794 for a 4-speed car or Powerglide, 1100795 for a TH400, date coded for your application.
FYI, any competent alternator rebuilber can install the 61 amp rotor and stator into your 37 amp case for more charging power if you want it.
