My Muncie M21 leaks a little bit of fluid. Not much, just a drop a day or every other day.

My mechanic tells me that this is normal for Muncie's. Especially along the "front plate" (I think that's what he said).

I hate leaks and fluids on my garage floor.

Is what he said true, or should I find someone how "knows" they can fix the leak?

Yeah my leaks also, noticed it around the gear linkage plate. I just took my out and I am also interested if there are things I can do to stop or reduce the leaking. Of course my garage floor is painted, you may want to consider that.

My garage floor is also painted, so it cleans up easily.

My driveway is pavered though, so the Chevelle can never be parked there (except long enough to be bathed).

time to change some seals
the input shaft will leak if the trans is overfilled, since it isn't a seal up there, it is an oil slinger.
new gasket and seal sets are fairly inexpensive.

Randy,if it truely leaks only one drop every day or 2 leave well enough alone if the trans ,clutch etc are all working well, many old muncies drip a little & your's is not bad at all.

Wait untill the leak get's worse or other things happen to the trans or clutch negatting trans removal and you can address the 1 or 2 drips daily at that time.

It's when you try to make these 40 yr old muscle carse perfect that you can get into trouble at times, this definately fits the " IF IT AINT BROKE DON'T FIX IT " saying. (LOL!!!!)

Just mt 2 cents.

lol

I hear what you're saying.

I just needed to hear some other people agree that a minor leak is no big deal.

No big deal... yeah.

Annoying nonetheless... definitely.

YMMV on actually fixing it and my thought is it depends on how long your fixit lit is already. Any leak goes onto the fixit list. From there it may not get fixed if there are other higher priorities on the fixit lit.

I have a 12-bolt that leaks about on par with your muncie. Someday I will replace the pinion seal and redo the cover gasket to eliminate that issue. But it is way down the list.

Now MY muncie... that sucker is an oil leaking seive even after replacing all the seals. I debate but think the real fix for me is to just go buy a TKO to put in there and eliminate that leak once and for all.
