Has anyone tried to put a later model steering column with the dimmer switch on the turn signal in a Chevelle (mine is a 71)? When I say late model, I mean 80's, 90's, pre-air bags. If so, what year/model did you take the column from and what mods were made to make it work?

I believe I'm going to put a universal 21 circuit wiring harness in my vehicles since I'm changing so many different components. (eg. EFI BBC, aftermarket A/C, power locks, windows, cruise, etc.) So, while I'm at it, thought I'd possible update to later column.

A friend has a column out of a 80 or 81 Malibu in his 69 Chevelle and it fits and works fine.

Thanks for the reply. Was the Monte Carlo a direct bolt in, or did you have to make mods? (besides the wiring)
