This is always a dangerous question to answer cause you don't know if your going to insult someone or not. Just suffice it to say that I hope you do better than 13.5. ;)

No stress Dave. It`s not my car I just did the motor that`s all.
I have my own idea what it should run, just wanted to see what others thought too.

I say 12.5 if hes running stickys.

I agree with 12.5 with a good hook.

I like the combo and the cam, how much vac does the engine have at idle ?

mike1985..good question, I`d like to know that myself.

I`ll post the results when I get back later tonight btw.

I ran a 350 with factory heads 11;1 comp and a comp 280 solid roller for a while. 3770 lbs w/driver, 4.11 gears and a 3000 converter. it ran 12.57 at 106. you have got more cubes, better heads but less cam and compression. I dont see any reason you cant run mid 12s on sticky tires. Of course atmospheric conditions will play a roll in it.

11.9 at 111 mph with slicks and a 1.70 60 footer! Just a wild guess!

Lucky if high 12's, certainly in 13's. Gotta have a good hook though! Goodluck and most of all have a blast! I'm jealous! :D

Red,
You didn't mention what tires but I'm assuming some decent traction...12.85/12.90 @ 103

Thanks for posting guys.

First of all I have to say I was wrong on two counts, sorry about that .
One..it had a 'glass cowl hood not factory and second it has 3.55 gears not 3.73`s.

But anyway it ran 12.11 ET @ 111 mph with a 1.71 60 ft on M/T drag radials. 66sbcduece was real close.
First time out so there`s room for improvement.

Very good time and speed. What is the car weight with the driver? Did you arrive at 385" by boring the engine .040 and adding a 3.75 crank?

BigRed-L72
Feb 19th, 05, 5:51 PM
Thanks guy`s.
Yes, bored .040 with 3.75 crank.
I`d say the driver weighs 165-170 lbs.
Add to what a 70 chevelle weighs with a glass hood... would it weigh maybe 3600 lbs with driver or thereabouts ??

I just have a few questions as I'm curious about the weight of the car.

1) Disc or drum brake? Power or manual?
2) AC equipped?

Looks like a good car there. Inspiration for me.

Guy`s...coming from fellow colleague`s..Thank you.

Slow..I really don`t know if it has drums or not, I do know it doesn`t have ac.
Weight wise... I`ll see if I can get him to put it on the scale next Friday when he runs again.

nice times.

See if you can get him to put a vac gauge on it too. Reason I ask is because i think that's a voodoo cam and i have been considering it.

thanks

It`s not a Voodoo cam but it is available through Lunati.
Too big IMO for a 355 with a 3.07 gear though.

The heads have the usual bowl work, blending and some polishing done. Flat milled some too.

Big red, The voodoo cam i was looking at was a little smaller 227-233 @ .050 110LSA 106 ICL..i figured this would be a step up from my 218-230 113/108 and the car would run stronger on motor ? I just switched from the RPM to vic jr because i want to spray 250 this year, but i have thought about a slightly bigger cam and the RPM with a 200 shot ? The reason my 3.07 gear works is because my car weighs 3000lbs with driver on the street and 2985 at the track....i sure like the way that heavy car runs.

I did my first test pass last night with the new intake and 85lbs of weight loss, in the 20 deg weather traction was an issue. HAHA I will say the single plane is different that the dual plane in that it pulls harder to 5500, the jury is still out on the bottom end.

Anyway thanks for all the info.

with this 12.11 @ 111MPH and 3600 lbs i get 427 FWHP and 384 RWH my chart says the car runs at 104% effiency...This motor to drive train and suspension works great. I'm guessing on the weight though.

Impressive...especially for the 1st time out. How does that 830 annular work on the street? My nova is very, very similar in weight, convertor, gearing, and engine, except I have a little larger solid flat tappet cam. I was thinking seriously about using that same carb. I hope mine runs that good 1st time out!

BigRed-L72

The 830 annulars run just fine on the street.
They have great throttle response.
This carb isn`t an HP model btw.

PN 9381, cost is about $360 give or take.
There`s no provision for vac though, but that`s no problem just make your own with a spacer or tap into the manifold.
and thanks..
