Hi guys, I hope you can help. I am in the garage installing my new front springs in my 71 chevelle. Which way does it go? There is a flat coil on one end and a round coil on the other? Which way is up? Thanks for any help. Joe

The flat goes up. Look at the bottom A Arm for a bump in the spring seat. The spring end will be positioned just behind it.

It can be fun getting the spring nested properly in the top seat. Double check.

Yup hard to see too when the compressor has the spring tight. Take your time. If the spring won't cooperate call it a night and tomorow it will go right in.

Actually there are 2 holes in the cup of the LCA. The end of the bottom coil should be between the two holes, according to the repair manuals and what others here have said.

I used a white marker to outline the upper nest so that I could see with a flash light when the spring is centred.
