yanniz May 4th, 04, 4:16 PM Lou,
which version of their street 540 is this engine. Pretty nice times.
shannont May 4th, 04, 4:20 PM Glad you got some good times... I love mine, but I have it for sale due to my blower motor needs. I can't afford them both... graemlins/sad.gif
badss540 May 4th, 04, 4:55 PM This is pretty much the Ultimate Street Version.Starts every time, in the car for 1 yr. drive very well....i would recommend it to anyone
shannont May 4th, 04, 6:19 PM I bet ours is pretty much alike. I'd like to know some of your specs. I ended up at a 6.30 in a 3500 lbs car. Mine is around 10.5:1 with Pro 1 heads (345's).
badss540 May 4th, 04, 7:24 PM Spec's are 10.3 to 1, dart 325 ( he wanted to put 345's) i didnt want them, Roller 650 lift, Dart 4500 intake, BG demon, 2.1/8 Hooker Super comps.3200 stall ( had a 4500-was to much for the street) Eagle crank, rods. Turbo 400, 12 bolt 4:11's, Crane High-6 with MSD Pro billit dist.
shannont May 4th, 04, 9:24 PM Sounds alot like mine. My cam is a tad more aggressive. Man, that motor of your will LOVE nitrous..
badss540 May 5th, 04, 11:48 AM i have a Sportsman Fogger for it in the closet, but i think i might be pushing it over the edge in terms of being to fast for the street, without any safty equipment, but i refuse to cage the car..you can see the car in March 04 issue of Car Craft as the feature article...
doggy69 May 5th, 04, 2:26 PM Just curious did either shannon or bad dyno your motors? Want to see how it compares to mine...
badss540 May 5th, 04, 6:07 PM DYNO WAS DONE 2 WAYS, ENGINE DYNO WAS 693HP 667LBS TORQUE, CHASSIS DYNO WAS 476RWHP AND 585 TORQUE
doggy69 May 5th, 04, 6:30 PM What revs on the motor dyno? My combo seems mismatched but 10.9, ported merlin 305's, edelbrock perf rpm air gap, speed demon 750, .600 lift solid roller lunati...mine was 632 hp at 5600 and 693 tq at 3800..didnt dip below 600tq from 2k through 5500 :D ...also running a pertronix ignition bc it made no difference vs his msd on the dyno, also got a T-56 and 4.10's, running the regular hooker comps
badss540 May 5th, 04, 7:34 PM My motor went 6400 on the Dyno,,i run a Merlin 3 block, dart 325 (out of the box) heads, solid roller 651 lift, eagle crank, rods, JE pistons, Dart manifold (out of the box) and a BG 1090, with Hooker Super Comp 2 1/8th headers..there is ALOT left if i want it, but i wanted Very streetable-and kinda fast, i got both with this combo.
doggy69 May 5th, 04, 7:57 PM Yeah similar to mine...merlin 2 block for me though...I think the heads were just cleaned up they havent been ported to flow big numbers but make great torque.....Pat Musi in cateret Nj built mine and being 17 at the time i was on a strict budget so alot of stuff from the 402 had to be reused and I needed a really mild mannered street motor..thats what I got...worked nice with the th400 and 3k stall but seemed to like eating the automatics. I wanted a stick car anyway. Talking with the guy who built it he said I shoulda went with a single plane and a bigger carb. Told me I could easily have 800 hp with a slightly larger cam and single plane big carb which made me :D
shannont May 5th, 04, 8:31 PM Mine engine dynoed 728 with a 1190 King Demon on top of it. I can tell it picked up quite a bit more on EFI, due to quicker ET's.
6.70's vs. 6.30's
doggy69 May 5th, 04, 9:53 PM Nice pickup...I would like to go to efi. but then I like n20 and turbo and.........
doggy69 May 5th, 04, 9:57 PM Think I can break into the 10's....or no bc of the stick? I know it depends on the setup etc. Ive got ssm liftbars, adjustable uppers, rear sway, tubular braces, drive angle is a few degrees down. rear has coilover airshocks (monroe maybe) that might hurt traction Mickey Thompson I's that the tread is about 12"......I was thinking about switching to either kyb's or summit drag shocks. I'm getting air bags and I'm not sure what else to do.
badss540 May 6th, 04, 1:49 PM Doggy, i put QA-1 12 point adj shocks, Metco adj upper control arms and a pass side airbag, summit adj fronts set at 90/10. Tim Deal in huntington Beach did my trans and its GREAT.. although my times improved greatly my 60 foot is still needing work, i think i should be able to do a 1.50 60 foot.. if all else fails i still got the SPORTSMAN FOGGER i could put on.....
shannont May 6th, 04, 3:46 PM if all else fails i still got the SPORTSMAN FOGGER i could put on..... Now your talking... graemlins/thumbsup.gif

badss540 May 7th, 04, 11:29 AM 8999.00, then i spent 992.00 on the Demon and 300. for the MSD ProBillit.. that was Built, Dyno'd and delivered,, You can beat what he gives you,,SSRE is the best deal out there..
shannont May 7th, 04, 12:07 PM Mine ended up at 10,700.

doggy69 May 7th, 04, 5:06 PM On a side note it is o so gratifying to spin the tires at highway speed shifting to 5th unintentionally. :D
badss540 May 7th, 04, 6:51 PM Doggy, i can't shift to 5th, or 4th for that matter, only 3rd,,
Harold Sutton May 8th, 04, 10:59 AM badss540, We have a guy here with a 496 BB and similar weight to yours who runs 6.8-6.9 eighth mile times @ 102 and generally runs right around 10.80 @ 124 in the quarter. I think his best was 10.74.
badss540 May 10th, 04, 4:52 PM harold, what 60 foot times are they running?
