Merlins were first produced by what is now Dart. Not sure exactly which ones you have they had different intake ports, 310CC and 345CC. The smaller rec ports are a 119CC chamber, not sure where you got the info for 125CC, don't think they are that large. The biggest advantage is the D-exhaust port. The exhaust flows very well. If you have the smaller rec port version, the flow and velocity is pretty good also.

Merlin heads also came in a 269cc oval port, they have a raised D shaped exhaust as stated, and are advertised as 119cc chambers but in actuality come out at 124-125 or MORE most of the time.
Me personally, having a set of ovals on my car,
They aren't a huge upgrade if any at all over a stock head.
They are also about 10lbs each heavier than a stock head.

I'm running those heads on my 496. 2.25/1.88 valves,Int.312,exh.128,CC119.I've got no complaints. The lower RPM's may suffer some, but it only takes a second to get above 3500 and then.....the beast comes alive!(lol) :D

I have a set of Merlin ovals on my 408. They were gasket matched, ports cleaned up and bowl blended and the chambers cleaned with the valves unshrouded, 2.19/1.99 valves. When I had the motor dynoed I lifted at 6800 and the guy running the dyno said the motor was still making power when I lifted. I had a Comp cams 292S magnum cam in the motor. I'd say they were good to 7000+ and still had good low end for street driving. I've since put in 2.250 intakes and I'm running a 690 lift,280 dur. roller but haven't dynoed that combo yet.
