: Any members here play online poker?
NOTHINBUT69s Feb 1st, 08, 1:45 PM Just wondering how many, if any play poker online. Thought it would be nice to play some T.C members.
I dont play real money all the real stuff goes into the Chevelle. I play the most on Absolute poker and my screen name is HotRodJim.
justkyle Feb 1st, 08, 5:08 PM I play at fulltilt poker. I don't play for real money either. It is illegal in WA state to gamble online.
The way the law reads is this. If you win an online satellite tournament, get a birth into the WSOP, win the WSOP, when you get home, the state of WA will confiscate all of your winnings and charge you with a crime.
Nice huh?
I have an X nephew that plays a lot.
He can't pay his bills because of being hooked. :(

There are two sides to every extreme.
I have two friends in California that make a decent living playing online poker. They make enough to pay their bills and have a little extra and only do it for about 3 - 4 hrs a night.
I'm not good enough to play for real money. I would be like your nephew if I tired to make a career out of it.

There was a story here in our local newspaper of a local kid in his early 20s that makes a living playing poker online. Making over 200K a year. That is his job and all he does every day. Seems some days he loses thousands of dollars in a day and others he will make big bucks.
ktrim Feb 1st, 08, 11:46 PM i play on Ultimate bet same user name as here. usually for play money but sometimes real money. The wife and I have palyed in a few holdem tournaments locally and generally play at the local catholic church festivals also.
Peter F. Feb 2nd, 08, 1:21 AM I tried playing for money a few times. In all honestly, I can properly decide about 7 out of 10 hands that I'm ahead after the flop with the other player having poor odds meaning I should win money. Unfortunately, I seem to get run over by the river in about 5 of those 7 hands. I really have no luck when playing poker because I should lose about 1 or 2 of those 7 hands, not 5 or 6. I once flopped a full house and another tool with A high put me all in and he still won. Another time I lost to inside straight draws 7 hands I played in a row.

ktrim Feb 2nd, 08, 1:37 AM what I've learned over the past few years of playing is the majority of the time, I would guess at least 80% of the hands, I play the player not the cards. Unless you have 4 of a kind or a royal flush, theres no guaranty of winning. What you have to do is make the other player think he will loose regardless of what cards he's holding. It takes a long time to get to know when and how much to raise. You cant look like your bluffing, and you cant look desperate, or trying to sucker someone when you really have the cards. I loose quite a few hands, some of them purposfully, But I generally when a lot more then I loose
