: Pics of my fabbed rear and 3 stage NOS system
69 Ratt Vette Aug 3rd, 04, 7:47 PM I am learning how to post pics. I have gotten this far. Check out the web site listed below.
The rear end is a narrowed (32.5 in. wide) Chassis Engineering fabricated chromemoly housing with a Strange aluminum 3rd member, 4.56 gears, 40 spline gun drilled axels, steel spool.
The intake is a ported BBC Victor Jr. with a Pro race Fogger (up to 500 shot) with a double cross plate ( up to 350 shot) I will run a total of 300-350 with the current 454. The car will be backhalved so traction should not be a problem even leaving off a trans brake and 925ish hp. If I can't pull enough timing out to control wheel spin, then I will play with a small shot out of the hole and then hitting another unit right after. Like I have said in another post this motor is for R + D while I really learn the nitrous game and build a 572, 632, or whatever else I can do to completely empty my wallet.

-SS454- Aug 3rd, 04, 10:27 PM Thats a LOT of nitrous. Very cool  I guess with this intake it means you wont be going up to Pro Filer, Big Chief, or Big Duke type heads when you go to the big time cubes.
69 Ratt Vette Aug 4th, 04, 12:15 AM I gotta tell you I change my mind so often on what the next motor will be I need to keep my mouth shut and just build the darn thing. I can tell you it will be 572+ cu in. with a fabbed tunnel ram (Hogan's) and a couple of Dominators on top. I would like to run some 18* heads, but the budget and purpose of the car may not allow for it.
66 283 Aug 4th, 04, 12:31 AM Dude,
A hogan's sheet metal will cost more than big chief heads with ALL the fixins - and they will make more power than going with a hogans twin dominator on a conventional head!
Here, I'll save you money - get some RFE oval port spread ports and their CAST single plane. Talk to them - their single plane manifold makes almost identical power to their cast tunnel ram that they run in NSCA Nostalgia Pro Street and it makes approx 40hp more than the best big chief or duke manifold.
All the above is cheaper than a hogans manifold and the extra carb and will make more power. You're welcome. (last time I checked a hogans was about $4000 and a pair of matched flowed dominators are about $2500.)
BTW that's a sweet diff. What does it weigh? I wondered how much lighter the chromoly and gun drilled axles are. Doesn't matter on my boat but my mild steel fab9 with center section (no brakes nor axles) was 180lbs. Axles were 42lbs total.
My diff is 60" from axle to axle though.
69 Ratt Vette Aug 4th, 04, 1:25 AM Ryan, thanks fo the input. I have an in with Hogan's and can get an intake for about 1000.00. I will buy the carbs used and rebuild them. I have not ruled out the 18* stuff. I just don't want to sound like an idiot when I change my mind so much. I have the guy who does all my head work on the look out for a set of Chiefs, thought I had a deal lined up about two weeks ago and it fell through.
I never weighed the rear. I would guess as you see it in the pics with axels it is 125-150 pds. It is in my buddies shop, I will have him throw it on a scale. The axles are around 10-15 pds per side.
The RFE heads are for sure sweet, like I said I have not ruled that stuff out. I want to get this thing running with the 454 and learn the nitrous game, than concentrate on the 572-632.
Quick side note the car should weigh around 2800 pds
Got_CID? Aug 4th, 04, 1:37 AM So whats the specs on your motor (carb, comp, etc)? Thinking about adding nitrous to my 454, but not nearly as much as that! Looks awesome though!
70mousejob Aug 4th, 04, 3:02 AM John,
Wow, your corvette is coming along nicely!! We met once a while back at Garden Grove Main st. and your car was mean then, I can't wait to see some pics of the rest of it.
Have fun, and be safe, that is scary fast!

Solid roller .652, 255 / 262 @ .050
Victor Jr.
10.7 to 1 JE nitrous pistons.
Richmond 6 spd, now a Turbo 400.
I took this car to the 1/4 one time. It went 11.87 at 123.6 in total street trim, no nitrous, shifting at 6900 rpms. It made 500 rwhp on a chassis dyno at 6500 rpms. This is a really nice combination for a lighter stick car. It idles at 1100 rpms, but will cruise along in 6th at 1500 rpms. I have considered going with a tighter LSA, but with all the nitrous I will probably leave it alone.
Brandon, when I get it back together I will bring out to GG.
69 Ratt Vette Aug 4th, 04, 9:26 AM The LSA is a 112
Sean70SS Aug 4th, 04, 9:38 AM be careful of the rfe heads they are very very finicky with nos flow good numbers etc but will melt pistons very quickly. the dart heads are good and proven even sonnys 14.5 head is very very good so just be careful withtht erfe heads good raw power but not a really great nos head.
Chevymetal Aug 4th, 04, 10:15 AM Looks like some awesome hardware! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
