have a 327 that I am want to redo for my 68 ragtop. Currently has these heads (3782461....64-66...327......Camel hump,no accessory holes,160/62cc port volumes,62cc chamber). Are these a solid performing head, and what are some recomendations for a cam?

The 461 is a nice head for a 327. The "camel hump" heads were the ones to have back in the 60's. If they are in good shape I would use them, if you need to dump alot of money into them, I would consider a nice aftermarket head. As far as cam selection goes it depends on your intentions and the rest of your setup ie gearing, compression, car weight, converter stall etc.

I would run them if they are good!! I would also drop half a bottle of good old Marvel Mystery Oil both into my tank and into the oil periodically so that it helps lube the top end so the seats and guides last longer.
Those old heads should last a decent time when burning unleaded gas nowadays if you don't lug your motor b/c that is what generally causes the valves to receed, imho...
I think lugging gets the valves hot which causes the seat faces to weld to the head seat faces which receeds them sorta thing....

Tom, I have run a .030 over 327 with the"461" heads and the L-79 Cam for a several years. The L-79 has enough Duration that I use pumped gas without any Problem.(Apx 10.5 to 1 Comp)
