I going to be sticking a 454 crate in my 66 soon. It was a 6 cyl. car with a 5/16" fuel line. I'm going to change it to a 3/8" line but DO I need the return line added? One friend says yes and one says no, so I'd thought I ask the experts ;)

Return line is usually with cars that have the evaporative emissions (charcoal canister)

The return line showed up in Ca. on '69 cars, mine had it. Pretty sure the return line was installed in '71 or '72 in production cars across the nation. I only run the 3/8" line, my return line was kinda beat, so I just eliminated it all together.

You don't need a return line. If you are using a stock mechanical fuel pump, be sure to get one without the return fitting. Using one made for a return line and then plugging it does weird things to the pressure and invites premature failure of the pump.
