I just dropped off my frame to the chassis guy. He wants to know where I want the frame ride height set... I think somewhere between 6" to 8" as measured from the bottom of the engine crossmember to ground... The stock chassis will be boxed and braced and coverted to coilovers on all four corners... any thoughts or maybe measurements with pics... (66 & 67 only for the pics)
Thanks

Well...I set ride height based on the wheel and tire once they're on the car. I think you should wait until it's all together and driving, and then fine-tune the ride height to nail the perfect stance.

If you tell the guy 6 inches, it'll be close. But I don't know how he could do that without everything else in place.

Maybe he's really good, or I really suck.

In general you can make an overall statement to get him started .. i.e. 2-3" lowered. Level, light rake, moderate rake. Usually going beyond 3" will require more adjustible springs/shocks and control arms. A frame guy should be able to work with that in particular if he's working from a stock frame. You'll see a lot of big-time builds set the tires in place along with the body on the car - this generally only gets them to a range - they still have to allow for an adjustible system as once the weight is fully on the chassis its hard to have got it dead on with a rigid system. Even with an Air-ride system you end up setting/tunning your ride-height. I think of lowered vs ground height have to think about 6 vs 8 .. not sure what stock is.

OK.. let me say that I have a complete running car and a second frame.... I gave the frame over yesterday... today I pulled the car in the garage to get on some flat level ground...

I took three measurements...

. One at the engine crossmember. There is a line on the front of it where it starts to kick up.... It measures 5" to the ground.

. The second was the frame behind the front wheel where it kicks out. It measures 7" to the ground.

. The third was the frame in front of the rear wheel where it kicks back in. It measures 8" to the ground.

Anyone have some stock measurements at the three spots I measured??

My stock front lower control arms as almost completely level. I am running AFX spindles and some shorter springs with 18" wheels and 245/45's ... I like the stance... I just got my new LCAs from SC&C and they look like they will hang really low. Mark said they have an inch drop built to them...

Rich, I took some measurements tonight. Unfortunately I had to quit before adjusting to the ride height I wanted. I forgot to mention - I have very little thats stock anymore.

I had 5" too - sorry it's dark....

Only 6" here - Yes the weight is on the susp - I know it looks like the lift was still holding it up.

7 3/4"

And under the spring perch was 3 3/8 - but I know I was about an inch too low on the front ride height. So I'd expect that to rotate to a more level position - likely 4"....
