: 95 corvette aluminum heads?
etracer Oct 8th, 04, 12:40 AM Was wondering does anyone run a set of these? Is 375 HP possible? I am not sure of there specs-I think maybe 64cc! I know there angleplug too! Trying to build another cheap bracket motor! I found out my intake won't bolt on-holes don't line-up graemlins/clonk.gif
accontrol Oct 8th, 04, 12:45 AM What type of intake do u have ?
kevinc Oct 8th, 04, 7:16 AM 95 Corvette heads are LT1 heads and they will not work on a Gen. 1 smallblock due to the reverse flow cooling.

etracer Oct 8th, 04, 6:27 PM Just found out the numbers off of the heads-643-They technically are 96 Trans Am heads! My intake is a Perf RPM for 86 and older heads! Gotta find out more about the reverse cooling thing though!
etracer Oct 8th, 04, 6:38 PM Just looked at Mortec's site-says 643 heads are reverse cooling Gen 11 94-96/ 175 int. 68 cc! As mentioned above-I think I can't use them on gen 1 block-Have to do some more investigating-I currently am running a set of vortec's 96 model on a 76 block-no heating problems so far-are the vortecs supposed to be reverse cooling too?

Nope ;)
ZZ69chevelle Oct 8th, 04, 10:57 PM The Vortec engine had a reverse rotation water pump, but conventional SB cooling (Block then heads) The LT1 coold the heads then the block. That's where the phrase reverse cooled comes from. The Vortec heads flow is very similar to the LT1 heads, and wouldn't be worth the switch IMO.
etracer Oct 9th, 04, 12:03 AM Is there anyway to reverse the waterpump flow-I use the cheap Moroso belt driven motor to pulley! I am starting to think maybe I should sell these to someone who runs the gen 2 style block!
ZZ69chevelle Oct 9th, 04, 12:17 AM Some folks have made them work, but the heads need serious modifcation by a competent welder. It'll cost you way more than they will ever be worth. That being said, yes by all means sell them. If you look on ebay or www.camaroz28.com (http://www.camaroz28.com) you can get an idea of what they go for. Your Vortec heads are more than up to the task of making 400 HP. Just do a search in the performance and engine forums for Vortec for the experiecses the members here have had with them. happy hunting. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
etracer Oct 11th, 04, 10:46 PM Is there a carbed intake for these heads? Anyone know! I have yet too find much info anywhere about people running theses heads!
Silver69Camaro Oct 11th, 04, 11:22 PM You can leave out the center 4 bolts if they are angled different than your older intake design. This is according to a Chevrolet Off-Road tech bulletin I read a few years ago. Never tried it myself though, but you can modify the intake easily enough to make it work. Professional Products makes adaptors, too.
etracer Oct 12th, 04, 8:28 PM I cannot see how the heads would be cooled 1st then the block-there is not any provisions for water to go to the intake! How did these heads survive with this kind of cooling!

etracer Oct 12th, 04, 10:52 PM Thanks for the info ZZ69!
