Hi all. I just ordered two springs for my ash tray. I would like to know, do these springs assist in holding it closed? and how do you install them???

You might need a assembly manual or someone can post a picture of it for you. I remember doing them on my 70 and they were real fun to figure out but once you did it really was easy

I have the manaul but the tray stays slightly open, are the springs there to keep it closed or assist in opening???

Is your ash tray door a reproduction?
I have seen some of the reproduction ash tray doors not fit very well they tend to leave the door open about 1/4"
Same if you have a repop dash carrier.

My original spring popped out once and I had a hell of a time trying to get it back in. It needs to be installed under tension, which will keep the door closed. Not a lot of room to work in there. Good luck!
