Not sure what kind of dipsticks you guys have im kind of curious. I bought one of the straight ones with an aluminum handle and it bottom'd out, wouldnt seal at the base and also of course, no where to mount it w/ headers. So I guess all "cheap" dipsticks are ruled out? I love the braided flex ones like Lokar's ED5003 being the last part I need to purchase! Is there anything cheaper than these, I didnt plan on $50 for a dipstick... blah. tongue.gif
I have a stock type pan by the way, I think its 7" or 8" deep, 454.

I've got the old fashioned driver's side dipstick that goes into the oil pan itself. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Mine looks like RowdyMons, its a Mr. Gasket, small block though. Only complaint is the chrome on the end of the dipstick is so freakin shiny that its hard to tell what the level actually is, so I bead blasted the end off to give it more of a profile.

Why not order a stock replacement dipstick from a vendor? Thats all I did and I like it. I remember a while back you said you didn't want any chrome on the engine and a stock replacement is natural steel, plus your garaunteed to be accurate. Check it out,
Jeff
Take a trip to the local GM dealer, they will sell you the dipstick and tube for a BBC, correct for the slip fit on the pan, lot less bucks than the lokar stuff, lots better than the cheap parts store crap.

Here's my dipstick, it's a flexible braided one. But as you stated, not cheap. Click the thumbnail for full view.
