Hi guys

throwing my BBC together now. I got a box of SpeedPro Piston Rings from the Engine Shop. They are new but I have reason to believe the box may have been opened and tampered with and the rings may now be identified incorrectly. It's a 50/50 chance of being wrong. The Top Ring is Plasma Moly coated, and the 2nd ring is Cast. They are identified in the box, but they may have been "switched" when the box was opened by somebody else. Doubtful, but possible. Just want to be 100% sure.

The 2 sets of rings look different. One of them has a "shiny silver" surface on the outer surface, the other set has a "dull" black finish to it. One set of rings is marked with "TOP" to identify which side goes up, while the other set of rings is marked with a stamped Dot on it to identify which side goes up.

So............which is the plasma moly set (top ring)? The one with the shiny silver coating or the ones with the dull black coating?

If I had to guess I would say the "shiny silver" coated rings are the Plasma Moly top rings?

The shinny outter ring is the top and the dull is the second.

The shinney top ring has the bevel on the top of the ring on the inside and the second ring the bevel on the inside will go towards the bottom.

then I'm good to go.
