This isn't going to be another how do you remove the window from the door question. It is actualy a question on how to remove the actual glass from the support frame that rolls up and down. I need to replace the fram on the passenger side of my 64 with another one that is not broken. However I don't remember how I removed it on another car I had and cant seem to get it to "pull" out of the channel. Any help would be appreciated. Of course I looked in the assembly manual and it didn't say. I also did a search of over 6 pages of posts and didn't find anything. I cant find my regular repair manual to see if it is in ther. So here I am begging....

I recommend taking it to an auto glass company, a one experienced with restorations. They know how to pull the glass out and what wedge material to use for replacement. I struggled pulling apart my vent glass and worried about breaking it. Then I took it to an auto glass biz and they had the technique (although they said it wasn't easy). For both vents I paid their minimum charge of $35.

Get the glass out of the door and on your padded bench. Squirt some WD-40 on the frame and let it soak in a couple minutes. I use a small block off wood (4 x 4 x 1) and set it on the edge at the end of the frame and lightly tap it with a hammer. You will see a little movement. Move down alittle and tap some more. Keep moving down the frame and pretty soon the glass will free itself. Get the window gasket material from a glass shop and tap the new frame back on. Trim the excess gasket when done. Be sure to take note where the frame was positioned on the old frame so you can get the new one in the right place.

I used a heat gun and it came out very easily. I just heated up the frame and used a small screw driver to pry up from under the glass. Once it started to move, I heated it up a little more and it slipped right out. It took maybe 2 min.
