: USA made sheetmetal available.
Musclerodz Jan 29th, 08, 4:55 PM We can get USA made sheetmetal in limited quantities while supplies last. Post up what you are interested in. Be aware that USA made metal will cost 25%-35% more than imported metal. Example: 70-72 Chevelle full quarters stamped on GM tooling. As close to NOS as you can get. Price for these is $575 each where others are $460 each Goodmark price for imported metal. About 10-15 sets available right now. If you are interested in other USA metal let me know and I will check and see what is available.
edit: mostly what is available right now is floor and trunk panels, some quarters, rear deck filler panels, and other structural type items.
MikeJ Jan 29th, 08, 7:26 PM Ok
Here's a tough one for you
1967 el camino rear quarter lower section - behind the wheel to the bumper
MJRIBEIRO Jan 29th, 08, 7:45 PM even tougher - 1967 convertible full corner panels......
zeke67 Jan 29th, 08, 7:49 PM Any rationale to why this is a limited time opportunity? The price spread seems reasonable enough to create an ongoing market.
BlueSS454 Jan 29th, 08, 9:17 PM I'd gladly pay that much more for USA made sheetmetal parts.
FlameOut Jan 29th, 08, 9:37 PM I'll be needing quarters on my 67, but are these guaranteed to fit like original GM quarters? (I know you said on GM tooling, but I'm skeptical lol)
If they are getting around to stamping in the USA on GM tooling, that will be great!
Philip Jan 29th, 08, 9:51 PM Mike how about a 68 Firebird left rear full quarter.
64chevellecoupe Jan 29th, 08, 10:10 PM OK....here is the kicker....1964 chevelle 2 door HT full quarters...
Good luck with that!
:)

Musclerodz Jan 30th, 08, 11:39 AM Rather than answer 400 questions on 20 boards, check out www.shermanparts.com (http://www.shermanparts.com). We are a dealer for them. The keep limited quantities on hand at any time so availability is based upon stock and how long till more is available. Goodmark gets some there metal from the same place as these guys to on imported metal. This is the only company I know of with USA made metal available. I buy all our Tri-Five metal from these guys which comes out of Canada and it is some of the nicer parts I have used.
Can't say if the GM tooling is still in the US, but it has got to be better than aftermarket dies.

geezer Jan 30th, 08, 3:17 PM Hey Mike,
Can you get me a price on one of their "made in USA" rear deck filler panels for '66 Chevelle? I believe their part number is 706-72. Would be shipped to 96003.
Thanks
Brucebodyman Jan 31st, 08, 12:09 AM Sherman is the only place in the country that has the 70-72 Chevelle full quarters stamped on GM dies. I don't know where they get them but I bought a bunch of them 2 years ago when i found out Goodmark wasn't going to make them any more but from time to time they come up with some.

Burnsamatic Feb 1st, 08, 1:21 PM Are the '69 fenders and Quarter panels made in the USA or just select parts?
FancyBoy Feb 1st, 08, 1:36 PM I wonder if they will answer this simple question...what's the gauge of the metal? Is it comparable to the originals or is it more like the flimsy reproductions out there?

Just select parts. I don't see those as USA made in their catalog

Cameano Feb 3rd, 08, 7:20 PM Mike, are the quarters for the '64 El Camino still available? I was ready to buy some last year, and was told they had been discontinued. P/N 705-50EL and 705-50-ER. Also the outer wheel houses, 705-29L and 705-29R? Their quantity indicates they are in stock. PM me a quote with shipping if you could. My zip is 96797. Thanks a bunch.

Whiskey Feb 5th, 08, 4:56 PM Mike I need to buy some 72 front fenders. Can you see if they have them? I would gladly pay the extra money after the Dynacorn fender fiasco I went through last year.
Thx Bill
Musclerodz Feb 6th, 08, 12:47 PM Mike I need to buy some 72 front fenders. Can you see if they have them? I would gladly pay the extra money after the goodmark fender fiasco I went through last year.
Thx BillNot USA made, what was your problem? Fitment or something else?
Mike
Whiskey Feb 6th, 08, 3:31 PM Well my problem was with a 68 front fender. The very front of the where it angles down was not flat at all. It was rounded so that the headlight bezels wouldnt fit. This I did not discover until it was painted and I was reassembling the car. You talk about mad!! Second the lower part of the fender had a slot cut in the wrong place so that the grill would not let the fender be bolted up until the original slot was welded up and then a new slot cut in a different place (to match the other orig fender). The next problem was when I went to bolt on the hood hinge I found that the threaded insert in the fender were 5/16-18 instead of the correct 3/8-16. This needed to be drilled out and tapped after the paint was complete. I bought a repop because my body man said that fixing the hole in my fender would cost more than a new fender. In the end I had twice as much into the repop as I would've had in the original and it looks like S#!T! I will never buy import junk sheetmetal again.

Thanks Dan.
We are Also a Dealer for Sherman BUT....We don't get many builders wanting USA made sheetmetal...They don't complain about the import stuff anymore.
Sherman however does make a few pieces others don't.
Good fit and thick metal, can't go wrong!
We have also found lately AMD is kicking out some SUPER nice parts and a few that aren't quite right (always to be expected with aftermarket parts) We still do a little with Goodmark and a lot with Golden Star, they make a lot of their own parts and fit is GOOD when its their tooling.
Goodmark isn't much in the classic parts business these days, more so crash parts for newer model cars but they do still have a distribution network for classic/muscle car parts.
