I need help selecting a new cam. Hydraulic lifters if possible. Here is a list of what I am working with.

1968 Malibu
30 over 350
462 double hump heads
Flat top TRW pistons
Open plenum Weiand intake(could be changed)
750 Holley vac secondaries(could be changed)
T-10 four speed(not sure of gearing)
4-10 geared 12 bolt posi
93 octane pump gas
not sure of specs on old cam
cam card has long since disappeared

I believe my combination of pistons and heads are giving me plenty of compression, so what do I need to make it useable?

I know lobe seperation and overlap can help or hurt performance so I am asking the all wise and knowing folks in the performance forum for help in maximizing my combo of parts.

This is mainly a weekend only driver but I am wanting the most performance I can get in case it does make it to a track.

Thanks in advance Rick

Something about 280º on a 110 LSA should do it. I figure you have about 10.2:1 using a .040" quench, 64cc heads, and 6cc for the pistons. That gives about 8.02 DCR.

In Voodoo, 268/276 (60103) or 276/284 (60104)
Not sure where Lunati is "advertising" the cams from
In Isky, 274 Mega Hyd or a custom 274/280 Mega Hyd on a 108
In all honesty I think the Voodoo will make more power,,, Ron needs to get some more lobes designed for his hyd line. :(

Put a dual plane intake on it,, RPM or RPM air gap.

Not sure how its going to work out cuz its just now going together, but, I'm going to be runnin the 268/276 (60103) Voodoo cam that Wolfplace reccomended in my Vortec headed, flat top hyper piston 383.

Should be good for close to 400 HP.

Rick,

A 383 with a 4-speed and a 4.10 rear would love a Lunati 60104, the 276/284 hydraulic cam. This has 233/241 at .050, .504"/.525" valve lift, and 110 LSA. It will need a good high-volume mech pump and 1/2" fuel line from tank to carb. If you want to put 1.6s on the intakes, that's OK too. BHP will depend upon who's dyno you're on, but should run between 450 to 500 for a 10:1 383 engine.

I'm guessing a 268 would be better for slightly more mild 383? How does the 268's idle sound, its the only part of my performer rpm cam i like haha.
