I am building a new bb for my chevelle to replace the numbers matching engine(before I blow it up!)and was thinking of using a edelbrock low rise duel quad setup with the 500 cfm edelbrock carbs and a progressive linkage. The engine will be a 496 with a set of the old L88 aluminum heads.have not decided on a cam yet but it will be hydraulic.Don't drive car every day but to car shows on weekends and some weekend trips of about 5or6 hundred miles.Have any of you had any experiences whith this kind of setup and what i can expect as far as performance and fuel mileage(not that a 496 will get good fuel mileage).By the way I have a 4-speed with a 3.73 gear. Thanks Bill.

William, I have dual quad setup on my bbc. I run a 4 speed with 4.11 gears. I have used various cams and head combinations with my 454 and used the same tunnel ram on it. It has alway ran great.
As long as you run a 180 degree thermostat and let the engine come up to temperature and lean the idle circuits. You shout be ok for good idle quality and great street manners.

Any more in dept questions feel free to ask.
