Harold, in Jim's thread about the 29.5" tires you mentioned that your son's car slowed over a tenth when you switched to a 3.89 gear. Was that on motor only and what gear were you running before the switch? Thanks!

Hi John, No it was on both the motor, and the nitrous. The newer tires were put on due to the class limitations and bit so much better than the taller 29.5s that everyone around here is now wanting our "secret". Of course there isn't any secret, the new 28" x 10.5W tires on a 10" rim are just faster and they don't grow into your wheelwells either. We were running 4.10s with the 29.5" tires and knew the tall tires wouldn't be allowed in the shootout class we wanted to run so we changed to the shorter tires and the 3.89 gears. The better bite was just an added, unplanned, benefit.

Hey Harold, was messing around with my Video camera yesterday copying some xmas stuff over and found three of Bryan's passes and the final race against Fatcat.

Here's a launch Video - http://www.dragstuff.com/MAKOvids/Green70b.wmv
and here's the race against the Nova:

Harold, thanks for the info. Were the 29.5's also on a 10" wheel? I've recently switched to a Hoosier 29x10.5w (stiff sidewall) on a 15x10 rim (from a MT 28x10.5 on 15x8) and my 60's improved by .04 but only .03 is showing up at the end of the track. Since my motor makes pk power at 6900 and I'm only crossing at 6500 with the 4.10 and 29's, I've decided to bump the gear to 4.56. I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. The new gear should put me through the traps around 71-7200 and would also work well with a new 18dg sbc I've got going together that should have enough power to put me through the traps at 78-7900@139-40 or so. The 4.56's would be a "motor only" gear of course.
