Anybody have a 70 SS with amber front turn signal lens? I have a 70 that was built in Nov. 69. I recently took the front bumper off to get rechromed. The turn signal lamps sure seem original cause the screws holding them to the bumper were totally seized. I broke them all off. Anyway, the lens color is amber and the bulb is clear. Is this correct? I think most other 70 Chevelles I have seen have clear lens.

The lenses for a SS car are clear with amber bulbs. The non-SS had the amber lenses.

Either you don't have an SS? or the front assembly was replaced at some point with a Malibu lens. I know you can get replacement clear, I haven't seen the amber but I'm sure they are available.

However, if the rest of your car is set up as an SS, I'd buy the clear.

ya, I read in one of the supplier catalogs that the clear lens was correct. Although everything else points to my 70 as being and SS car, this was the first thing I came across that didnt. I dont have a build sheet. I was thinkin that since it was and early built car, maybe theres a bunch of them with the amber lens. The amber lens and lamp definitely seemed like they been on the car its whole life.

They could have been replaced many times since the car was new.

Sure.
I actually prefer the looks of a the clear lens/amber bulbs. Which is the way it is on my '70 Malibu.
